About Me

I was brought up on a farm in Dorset, to which I have now returned and live with my farming husband and three children. After my education I spent a decade working in Oxford and London in publishing and then in the art world, after which I set up and ran my own contemporary art gallery in the 1990s.

During this time I became interested in horticulture and became enthralled by the close relationship between painting and gardening, both of which use form, colour, design and texture to create an effect.

Through a series of horticultural courses, ranging from ornamental gardening to propagation, I extended my plant knowledge and became a keen gardener. After years of learning from my mistakes whilst developing my own gardens and telling friends how they should be designing theirs, I embarked on the Advanced Certificate in Garden Design course at Kingston Maurward College of Horticulture in Dorset, which I passed with Distinction.

Whether a large country garden, small cottage garden, town garden or roof garden, I find every space inspiring, whatever its challenges or constraints.
